The Trees Thank Science Club...

Thanks to the hard work of the Alverno Science Club the trees got some much-needed water from the  rain that was diverted from going into the storm drain and toward the trees!

Digging in!

The big aquaponics systems are in place and assembled!  Prof Cat's aquaponics students helped AP Environmental Science students assemble the systems and Alverno students dug a shallow hole to place the fish tanks to align them with the bed tables.

Bogged Up!

We are cultivating bog plants in our small aquaponics system outside the science classrooms.  The bog plants love it!  Most of them will eventually be transferred to the Villa Pond.

Aquaponics has a new home!

The big aquaponics systems have been moved to their new home near the soccer and softball fields.  We are looking forward to working with Prof. Cat's PCC students to assemble the systems and to get them working.

Uekusa Gakuen joins in!

Our Japanese visitors helped with the soil testing, which is now underway in the villa pond area.  The soil is being tested for pH, moisture, draining time, Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium levels.
AP Environmental Science students are developing a list of appropriate native plants that are in keeping with the Villa's Renaissance Tuscan design.

On the move!

Our big aquaponics systems are on the move to their new home between the villa pond and the softball field.  Science students moved the pieces that they could carry and we will need help to move the really big, heavy pieces.
